Iran's children fest unveils winners

The 36th International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Iran has unveiled winners.

The 36th International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Iran has unveiled winners. 

The award ceremony was held on Thursday evening in the Iranian city of Isfahan.

At the event, there were child and teenage jurors, reporters, as well as Iranian actors, directors, and artists such as Shabnam Moqaddami and Mohammad Hossein Latifi.

Majid Zeinolabedin, the fest's director, said at the awards ceremony, "I hope that the children of Gaza, Lebanon and all the oppressed children of the world will have peace and happiness next year when we hold" the 2025 edition of the fest.

Reza Keshavarz Haddad's 'Kianoush's Garden' and Hossein Qanaat's 'Electric Girl' received awards for the best film in the young adult and children's categories, respectively.

Nafas Bazeghi was also recognized for her performance in 'The Wasteland', receiving a diploma of honor for best young actor in the international section.

Below is the list of some prominent awards given to the selected films at the event:

  • The Golden Butterfly for Best Technical and Artistic Achievement: Mohammad Abdi for 'Kianoush's Garden'
  • The Golden Butterfly for Best Screenplay: Hossein Qanaat for 'Electric Girl'
  • The Golden Butterfly for Best Child Actor: Hilda Kordbacheh for 'Electric Girl'
  • The Golden Butterfly for Best Teenage Actor: Amir Reza Faramarzi for 'The Two'
  • The Golden Butterfly for Best Film: Mohammad Javad Movahhed for producing 'Kianoush's Garden'
  • The Golden Butterfly for Best Director: Arash Moayerian for 'Bamboulak'
  • The Golden Butterfly for Best Technical and Artistic Achievement: Mehdi Jafari for 'Sword and Sorrow'
  • The Golden Butterfly for Best Director (Animation): Daryoush and Farzad Dalvand for 'Shangoul and Mangoul'
  • Special Jury Prize: Mahmoud Kalari for directing 'Summer of That Year'
  • Abu Nasr Farabi Award (Education and Training): Hossein Rigi for directing 'Miro'
